Obituary

WEBSTER – Czeslawa H. “Helen” (Kopka) Urbanowski, 92, died Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Overlook Masonic Health Center, Charlton after a period of declining health. Her husband of 56 years, William J. Urbanowski, died in 2001.

She leaves a son, William J. Urbanowski and his wife Martha of Southbridge; 3 grandchildren, Paul Urbanowski, Steven Urbanowski, and Tracey Blum; and 2 great-grandsons. Her brother, Edmond Kopka, died in 1980.

She was born in Poland, the daughter of Francois and Sophie (Boberski) Kopka. She lived in France for 17 years before moving to Webster in 1945.

Mrs. Urbanowski was a floor girl at B & W Footwear Company. She then worked as a machine operator at Cranston Print Works Company for 11 years, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica and of its Holy Rosary Sodality and Sacred Heart Society. She participated in the prayer line at the church. She was also a weekly adorer at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. She belonged to the PAV Auxiliary and had served on its board of directors. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 4, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 AM in the funeral home, prior to the Mass. Donations in her name may be made to Saint Joseph School, 47 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA 01570.
