Obituary

Pillai, Manu, 40, of Dedham passed away on Thursday, September 28th, 2017. He was the devoted and loving son of Thankamma and Vasudevan Pillai, brother to Nina and Manoj Pillai, brother-in-law to Gopi Pillai, and uncle to Leelavati and Rohan Pillai. He was also a beloved nephew and cousin to Mr. and Mrs. Ramachandran Nair and family.

Manu graduated from Dedham High School in 1995. Directly after high school, Manu enlisted in the army and served at the rank of a private 2. Upon return to the United States, Manu worked in a variety of business development positions gaining and honing his business and salesmanship skills. He ultimately started his own business, Take Point Technology, with childhood friend Dan Olsen in 2016.

Manu was a supportive, loyal, and charitable friend who always put other people’s needs before his own. His true gift to the world was his giving heart which had space for anyone no matter who they were. Even those who only met him once were smitten with his character. He would take the shirt off of his back to help someone in need. As his friend, Emily LaMarca said, “Words cannot describe the genuine person Manu was or his ability to touch anyone he met. He will be missed tremendously.”

Manu’s wake will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home located at 456 High Street in Dedham, MA 02026. A Hindu ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by military honors. Friends and family are kindly invited. A cremation attended by a small group of family and friends will follow. Manu loved animals and was fascinated by nature.
