Joana Dos Santos (93) of Brockton died September 29th in the Brockton Hospital. She was the widow of the late Joao Lopes Tavares.
She was born in Praia, Santiago, Cabo Verde daughter of the late Raul Varela and Maria Gomes. Joana was a faithful communicant of St. Patrick Church and religiously prayed the rosary everyday. She also enjoyed singing and dancing to traditional Cabo Verdean music.
Survivors include 2 sons, Jose and Higino Lopes both of Brockton, a brother Avilino Gomes Varela of Cabo Verde, 10 grand and 6 great grandchildren.
Services from the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel 238 Court Street Brockton Wednesday October 4th at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church at 10 am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday October 3rd from 5-9 pm.
