W. Doug Donahue, 63

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

W. Doug Donahue, age 63, of Mansfield, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in the comfort of his home.

Born in Boston, MA on February 19, 1954, he was a loving son of the late William F. and Alice M. (Turner) Donahue.

Doug grew up in Jamaica Plain, Roslindale and West Roxbury and was a 1971 graduate of Catholic Memorial High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged on June 20, 1975 with the rank of Private First Class.

A resident of Mansfield for the past twenty-five years, Mr. Donahue had been employed for over twenty years at Owens & Minor in Franklin.

Doug loved his role of being a devoted father. He also enjoyed reading and the simple pleasure of relaxing at home.

He was the loving father of Kristina George and her husband Bobby of Dedham, Sean Donahue of Rehoboth and the late Christopher Donahue. He was the dear brother of Frances Burke of West Roxbury and Michael Donahue of Connecticut. He is also survived by his special friends Karen Maider and Neth Savatdy.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, October 4th at 11:30 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow at St Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visitation will be held prior to the services on Wednesday morning beginning at 10:30 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Doug’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02180.
