Stephen R. Martin of Provincetown passed away from a sudden illness on Saturday, September 23rd at Cape Cod Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Stephen was born on February 3, 1949 in Provincetown to Raymond A. Martin and Rose Enos Martin. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Lynne Kimball-Martin, his sister Miriam A. Collinson and a large and loving family of aunts and cousins. His life was enriched by a lifetime of friendships. Stephen graduated from Provincetown High School in 1967 and attended Wentworth Institute where he studied electronics.
When he returned to Provincetown he fished for a brief time on the Captain Bill before he began his employment at Dunes Edge Campground as Assistant Manager for twelve years. Most recently Stephen worked for the Town of Provincetown, Building and Grounds Department until his retirement several years ago.
Stephen shared his love of nature on a daily basis with Reggie, his beloved Labrador retriever. Together they spent endless hours walking the beaches and wooded trails of the Provincetown he loved so well. Stephen fished the back beach for stripers and the back woods ponds in spring and winter. Pheasant and duck hunting with his Labrador retrievers was a special love for Stephen. He enjoyed the quiet solace of his favorite places every season of the year. Stephen and Lynne loved exploring and traveling whenever they had the opportunity. Last year they visited the islands of Hawaii and most recently returned from an Alaskan Adventure to celebrate his PHS Class of 1967 50th Reunion.
In lieu of flowers, Stephen’s family has asked that any donations in his memory be made to the Provincetown Rescue Squad, PO Box 109, Provincetown, MA 02657.
A memorial for Stephen will be held on October 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at the church of St. Mary of the Harbor in Provincetown. Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend.
