Obituary

WESTPORT - Raymond E. Morin, age 80 years of Westport, formerly of South Dartmouth, died peacefully at home with his wife Ann on Friday, September 22, 2017.

Born in New Bedford, MA., Ray was a beloved teacher at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational High School until his retirement. As a youth he studied vocation with the Brothers of the Sacred Heart later attending St. Michael’s College in Vermont and later the University of Illinois.

Ray was a true "bon vivant"; he loved life and lived to help others. He loved conversation, spoke French, loved to travel, enjoyed politics and history and is largely recognized by his friends and family for his generosity and kindness. His greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren and playing cards with the guys.

He is survived by his wife Ann (Whiteley) Morin, sister Pauline Perry, and his four children Elizabeth Mitchell of Chula Vista, CA, Catherine Morin of Montrose, CO, Ray Morin Jr. of Ventura, CA, and William Morin of Fairhaven, MA. and 2 stepsons, Edward (Ned) Woodacre and Todd Woodacre of Dartmouth, MA. He is also survived by his many grandchildren: Ashley & Nicholas Morin, Shawna Heinbaugh, Andrew & Lily Morin, Lila Mitchell, Sean, Kaylee & Nicole Woodacre and Theodore & Scarlett Woodacre and his many nieces and nephews.

Ray Morin will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place in the Wilson Funeral Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford on Thursday September 28th, from 4 - 7 P.M. His funeral service will take place Friday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm St., South Dartmouth followed by burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery. In Ray's Memory remembrances may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
