Florence "Flo" Elizabeth (Bigos) Berdan, 77, of Groton died on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Florence was born on November 28, 1939 in Passaic, New Jersey. She married Leonard Berdan on August 17, 1963, celebrating 54 years of marriage this past August.
Florence lived in Little Falls for 50 years before moving to Connecticut. She graduated from Garfield High School and Montclair State University with a Masters of Science degree in Education. Florence was a dedicated and beloved science teacher at Parsippany Hills High School for 32 years.
Florence was a past president of the Little Falls Women's Club and the NJ Environmental Protection Agency. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, gardening, crafting and decorating.
Florence is survived by her husband, Leonard, son Richard, daughter-in-law Annamaria DiRusso, granddaughters Sasha and Sabina, daughter Virginia Berdan Bono and son-in-law Anthony Bono.
A private memorial service was held at Calvary Episcopal Church in Stonington. Donations in memory of Florence can be made to the Little Falls Woman's Club, 93 Prospect Street, Little Falls, NJ 07424.
