Rudolph "Rudy" L. Merola, Sr., of Greenville passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Greenville Center in Greenville, RI. He was the husband of the late Angela (Perrotti) Merola and father of the late Rhonda (Merola) Spaziano.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Luigi and Mary (Calitri) Merola. He worked as an operating engineer for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 57 until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved watching old western movies, New York Yankees and Lidia the chef, very fond of animals especially cats, enjoyed family, friends and making everyone laugh. Rudy lived life to its fullest while touching each one of us in a different and special way.
He is survived by his children, son Rudolph L. Merola, Jr. of Johnston, RI, daughter Donna L. (Merola) Drury of Jeffersonton, VA and son Mark M. Merola of Greenville, RI. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Rudy respectfully requested a private ceremony. Any donations would serve Rudy proud for the local animal shelters.
