…retired from Raytheon; 78
TEWKSBURY - Philip J. Keon Sr., age 78, a retired business manager for Raytheon, died peacefully on Thursday evening, September 21, in the loving care of his family and hospice at his home, after an eighteen month long battle with multiple health issues. He was the loving husband of Nancy L. (Amorelli) Keon, with whom he would have celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage this coming November 2nd.
Phil was born in Lowell, one of five children of the late Philip and Mabel (Farrell) Keon. He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard in the peacetime period between the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked diligently to earn a Bachelors Degree from Lowell Technological Institute while working and raising his young family of five. He went on to become a business manager at Raytheon’s Missile Defense Systems, and retired after thirty-one years of service.
Phil enjoyed golf and held a membership in the Longmeadow Golf Club in Lowell, and was a communicant of the St. William’s Parish family.
Phil was an avid reader, and would typically finish two or three books a week.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Philip J. Keon Jr. and his wife Karen (Desrochers) of Tequesta, FL, Michael P. Keon of Portland, ME, Patricia L. Keon and her husband James Robertson of Stinson Beach, CA, and Sandra J. Keon of Portland, ME; two grandchildren, Philip D. Keon and Michael Beauchesne; a brother, L. Richard Keon and his wife Elizabeth of FL; many nieces and nephews; numerous long time and faithful friends throughout the Merrimac Valley and beyond; and was predeceased by his beloved son, David R. Keon; and siblings, Edward Keon, Patricia Ashe, R.N., and Gerald Keon.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Celebration of Life to be held Monday evening, September 25, from 5:00 until 8:00 in the Longmeadow Golf Club, 165 Havilah St. Lowell. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in to American Red Cross, Hurricane Relief Fund, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 or redcross.org will be deeply appreciated. Arrangements are through the Tewksbury Funeral Home.
