Obituary

Karena Antrim passed away September 19, 2017 at the age of 66. Karena, a long time resident of Ventura, was born April 27, 1951 in Compton, California. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1969 and attended Ventura College. She worked for the County of Ventura starting as a secretary in the Area Agency on Aging, and retired as a project manager in the Information Systems Department. Karena loved to travel with her husband. In spite of health challenges related to diabetes, she enjoyed several cruises and vacations in the US and Europe. She never stopped taking adventures, including fun excursions with friends. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Ventura for 35 years joyfully serving our Lord by helping out wherever she was needed. She was loved for her fierce determination to never give up and to keep active. Her cheerful personality and deep faith inspired her to help others, and to have an immense love for her family. She was loved and she will be missed. Karena is survived by her husband Fred Antrim with whom she shared 47 years of marriage, her sister Peggy Carter, her daughter and son-in- law Dave and Yvette Stuewe, and her two grandsons, Benjamin and Nathan Stuewe.
A memorial service for Karena will be held on September 30 th at 10:30AM, at First Lutheran Church, 78 Chrisman Avenue, Ventura, CA. Anyone wishing to honor her memory may make a gift to the American Diabetes Association.
