Bernard E. Malone, 77

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Bernard E. Malone, age 77, of Mansfield passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at home.

Born in Worcester, MA on October 25, 1939, he was a loving son of the late Anthony A. and Florina (Lescault) Malone.

Bernie grew up and was educated in Woonsocket, and was a graduate of Norfolk County Agricultural High School. He had made his home in Mansfield since 1977.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Malone had faithfully been employed for thirty-nine years at the Foxboro Co., retiring with the position of a shipping and receiving foreman. Following retirement he kept busy working part time at the Morse & Beggs Monument Co. in North Attleboro and for the Benson Cabinet Co. in North Attleboro.

Affectionately known as “Papa” to his adoring family, Bernie enjoyed gardening, woodworking, building furniture, and when younger was fond of flying radio controlled airplanes.

He is survived by his loving and devoted children Bernard A. Malone and his wife Catherine of Harwich, Lorrie A. Mayer of Plainville, Barbara J. Haaversen and her husband Dale of Attleboro, Steven J. Malone and his wife Edna of Mansfield and Stace L. Malone of North Attleboro. He was the dear brother of the late Maryellen Manson, and is also survived by his cherished 9 grandchildren, and special friend Bonnie Nadeau and her husband Mark of Dighton.

His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, September 21st at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Denis Cemetery in Manchaug, MA.

Visitation will be held on Thursday morning, prior to the services, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Bernie’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
