Obituary



David Daniel Higgins, 50, of Milford, formerly of Medway, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester following a brave battle with cancer.

Born on February 8, 1967 in Natick, he was a son of the late Henry T. and Margaret L. (Malloy) Higgins. David grew up in Medway and was a 1985 graduate of Medway High School. David entered the US Marine Corps after high school. He was recalled to service during Operation Desert Storm. During his time in the Marines he obtained the rank of Corporal and earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Rifle Medal. Following his discharge from the Marines he continued his education at the Salter School in Worcester, where he earned a certificate in Medical Billing Coding.

For the past 25 years, David has been a resident of Milford. He was a Medical Billing Coder for Tri-County Medical Associates in Milford for many years.

In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, baking, making WWII models and shooting firearms at Mass Firearms in Holliston where he was a member.

He is survived by his true love Patricia R. Lapan of Milford and her children Heather Lapan of Milford, Jonathan Lapan and his partner Sara Cheschi of Milford, and Aaron Lapan and his wife Jennifer of Malden; his siblings Lance P. Higgins of Franklin, Thomas J. Higgins of Brighton, and Jane Higgins-Greene and her husband Brian of Medway.

He is also survived by four grandchildren and his niece Kathryn Greene and nephews Brandon and James Greene. He was predeceased by his brothers John F. Higgins and Francis D. Higgins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Friday, September 22 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village Street, Medway. Burial will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street, Medway.

Since Dave and Trish met at the Milford Town Library, in lieu of flowers remembrances may be made in his name to the Milford Town Library, 80 Spruce Street, Milford, MA 01757.
