Obituary

Scott David Greenleaf, of Medford, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 13th. He was 35.

Born in Stoneham, he was raised in Medford and a cherished son of David and Deborah (Kostinden) Greenleaf of Medford.

As a young boy he enjoyed being a Boy Scout, going camping in Maine and playing sports. He particularly liked baseball and basketball. As he got older he loved fishing, hanging out with his friends and particularly loved going to his middle school dances. When he started high school at Minuteman Tech in Lexington, he devoted a lot of his time to playing basketball on his high school team. He was a great team mate and had so much fun with all of his friends. He also enjoyed his time learning culinary arts at Minuteman. He was always cooking up delicious meals for everyone.

When he had a free Saturday as well as during the summer he started working for his father, developing skills in numerous trades such as painting, construction and restoration. When he was in his early twenties, he decided to make a change and moved to Florida. There he was able to work hand in hand with one of the most treasured people in his life, his grandfather. He ran his grandfather’s produce business which he really enjoyed. He also got the chance to live with Sean, one of his best friends since Kindergarten. They surly had a great time. After several years, he decided to move back to Boston to be with his family and friends. He furthered his skills in the construction industry for the next several years and took a liking to painting and window restoration. He cherished his time with his family whether it be playing cards on Sundays, going out to dinner at his favorite restaurants and playing all sorts of games with his beloved nieces even if it meant dressing up as a princess! He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He had a huge heart and a positive attitude. May he rest peacefully.

Scott was the dear brother of Matthew Greenleaf and his partner Katy Mendonca of Medford, Kelly Hobart and her husband David of Billerica and the late Bryan Greenleaf, who passed away in 1988. He was a treasured grandson of William and the late Margaret Kostinden of Medford and Robert and the late Priscilla Crispo of Somerville. Scott was the loving nephew of Maureen White and her partner Wilson Pye of reading, William Kostinden of Lynn, Stephen Kostinden of Revere, George and Gary Greenleaf, both of Florida. He was the adored uncle of Kylie and Hannah Hobart, both of Billerica, and is also survived by his canine companion, Teddy.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Wednesday, September 20th at 9AM followed by a funeral service celebrated in St. George Cathedral-Albanian Orthodox Church, 523 East Broadway, South Boston, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
