Obituary

Maryann (Deloia) Lucia, a lifelong Medford resident, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 13th. She was 76.

Born in Boston, she was raised in Medford and was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Russo) Deloia. Maryann graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1958. She was a finance director at the Shore Educational Collaborative and later in life, Maryann continued her education alongside her daughter, at Northeastern University.

Maryann touched the lives of many and will be fondly remembered as always having a smile on her face and being kind to all. Maryann was a fierce New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. Maryann was a loving and proud grandmother to her six grandsons. She traveled with them on many trips to Florida and on cruises. She was there for every milestone, no matter how big or small. Maryann was our teacher, confidant, friend and our light. We have been truly blessed and are ever so grateful to be able to call her our mother.

Maryann was the beloved wife of the late William J. Lucia Jr., who passed away in 1994. The two shared many loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Susan Crowley and her companion Robert Shea of Wilmington, Joanne Burns and her husband Robert of Tewksbury, Lori Carbone and her husband Steven of Wilmington. Maryann was the loving grandmother of Robert Burns Jr. and his wife Colleen of Rockland, William Crowley Jr. and his fiancée Casey Waser of Tampa, FL, Christopher Crowley of Wilmington, Michael Burns of Tewksbury, Damien Carbone and Jaxon Carbone, both of Wilmington. She is also survived by her twin sister, Joanne Teixeira of Medford, dear brother Anthony Deloia and his wife Annette of Burlington, and many loving nieces and nephews. Maryann was preceded in death by her dear sister, Rose Marie Lungrin.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Tuesday, September 19th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Maryann's name may be sent to the St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
