FALL RIVER – Antonio S. Camara, age 86 of Fall River, passed away Monday, Sep. 11, 2017 at home. Born in Santa Bárbara, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Apolanario Camara & Matilde Farias and the beloved husband of Laureana Arruda Camara. Prior to retiring, Antonio worked as a landscaper for Hoogendoorn Nurseries of Middletown, RI. He was also a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church.
Besides his wife, survivors include his children: Antonio C. Camara (wife Lucy) of Fall River, Joseph C. Camara of Westport, & Maria Ferreira (companion Ronald Moura) of Fall River; siblings: Maria Filomena Farias, Humberta Camara, Urselina de Conceicão Camara, & Maria do Carmo Coelho all of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren: Andy Camara, Ashley Lopes, Aidan Camara, Shawn, Ryan, & Mitchell Ferreira; a step-grandson: Derek Sebastiao; 2 great grandsons: Nathan & Myles Lopes; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maria Aguiar, João de Deus & Eduardo Farias.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 5-8 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
