Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Frances B. (Wroblewski) Chigos, 89, of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, September 10, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Orchard Valley of Wilbraham surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her thoughtful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on July 5, 1928, a beloved daughter of the late Stanley and Blanche (Dembek) Wroblewski. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the High School of Commerce and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was employed as a secretary at the former Byrd and Bryant Appliance in Springfield until 1966. She was a former communicant of Saint Joseph Polish National Catholic Church in Springfield where she was also a member of the Monuisko Choir. She currently was a communicant of Holy Mother of the Rosary Polish National Catholic Church in Chicopee where she also was a member of the United Women's Society of the Church. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Anthony J. “Tony” Chigos who was Called Home on October 15, 1999. They were married on September 24, 1966 at Saint Joseph Polish National Catholic Church and were blessed with over 33 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, John A. Chigos of Springfield and Maria B. Sulewski of Enfield, CT; her six cherished grandchildren who will miss their "Yiayia", Jennifer, Andrew and Katherine Sulewski, Ethan and Matthew Chigos and Daniel Fernandez; her dear sister-in-law, Cleo J. Facos of Montpelier, VT; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Chigos, Facos and Wroblewski families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers, Stanley Wroblewski and Antonio “Tony” Wroblewski; and her dear sister, Genevieve P. Wroblewski. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, September 15, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Mother of the Rosary Polish National Catholic Church, 26 Bell Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her Burial will follow the Funeral Mass at Saint Joseph Polish National Catholic Cemetery, 328 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. For those who prefer, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children Springfield Unit, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
