New Bedford – Maria Adelina (Moniz) Vieira, age 83 of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose DeMelo Vieira and daughter of the late Maria Merces (Branco) and Jose Moniz.
She was born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores and had worked as a stitcher for Cliftex Corp.
She is survived by her children, John Vieira and his wife Stella of Taunton, Goretti Medeiros and her husband Antonio of Freetown, Louise Cook of New Bedford, Ana Medeiros and her husband Gilberto of New Bedford, Christina Almeida of New Bedford, Susan Soares and her husband Raul of New Bedford; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter; as well as daughter-in-law, Fatima Vieira. She was also the mother of the late Jose M. Vieira and Nelson D. Vieira and the grandmother of the late Ryan Medeiros.
Her visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Her funeral services will be Thursday beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
