Obituary

.
WESTBROOK- Julian (Ian) Hartwell, 27 Westbrook, Maine died peacefully after a courageous battle with Leukemia on September 4, 2017. He was surrounded by his friends, family and supported by the loving staff of nurses at Maine Medical Center/Gibson Pavilion.
He leaves his mother Leslee Clark and step father David Clark, sisters, Nikki Martin, Autumn Graves and Cassidy Hartwell, Brother in-laws, Jim Martin and Thatcher Graves, step-sister Hannah Clark, nephew Weston Graves and niece Gwendolyn Graves, his beloved girlfriend, Paige Thompson and their “fur- baby” Desmond.
Born September 5, 1989 in Concord Massachusetts, he passed just a few hours shy of his 28th birthday. Ian grew up in Maine and graduated from Sacopee Valley High School, class of 2007. He participated in Golf, baseball, basketball and track and field for The Hawks.
After high school he moved from Hiram, ME to Maui, HI until 2014.
Ian refused let his illness define him he and continued to work in construction, many times while physically sick. His determination gained him genuine respect as a patient and a human being by the top doctors in the field of Oncology and Hematology (from Honolulu, to Boston, to Maine). His funny and gentle nature, sharp intellect and loyalty, made Ian many friends right up to the end of his life.

In lieu of flowers, family asks that friends consider donating blood at their local blood drive or Red Cross.
