Josephine N. (Garofalo) Petteruti, 89, formerly of Methuen, passed away on August 30, 2017 at the Royal Meadow View Center in North Reading, MA surrounded by her loving family.
Josephine was born on September 19, 1927 to her hardworking parents, Rosario and Anna Garofalo in Lawrence, MA. As a child she attended Holy Rosary Grammar School and graduated with the Class of 1945 from Lawrence High School. Shortly after graduating from high school, Josephine married her sweetheart, Americo, at Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence. She and her husband settled in Methuen to raise their family. Josephine had a love for preparing a great Italian meals for her family and enjoyed music, crocheting, and knitting. Always a person to have a green thumb, she was a member of the Methuen Garden Club. Josephine was always a very sociable person and was a member of the Sons of Italy Ladies Lodge and enjoyed singing with the Happy Hearts Chorus at the Methuen Senior Center. She worked for many years at the Slender Trap Figure Salon as an Instructor. Josephine was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family. She touched many lives in many different circles and will fondly be remembered and missed.
Josephine is survived by her devoted three children; her daughter, Annmarie Morse of Pelham, NH, her son, Anthony Petteruti and his wife Linda of Salem, NH and her daughter, Joyce Faro and her husband Sebastian of Seabrook, NH. She was the proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren; Anita, Tina, Holly, Keith, James, Anthony, and Analisa. Josephine was the loving great-grandmother to her seven great-grandchildren; Vincenzo, Jasmyn, Jeremy, Gianna, Lorenzo, Mia and Maxine. She is also survived by her sister Annmarie Panorelli of Andover, MA and her brother Vincent J. Garofalo of Winnisquam, NH. Josephine is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage, Americo A. Petteruti, until his passing in 2013 and her brother Domenic Garofalo.
