Elizabeth (Medeiros) Champagne, age 92, of Berkley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center in Fall River.
Born in Taunton, MA on November 23, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Alves and Mary (Souza) Medeiros.
Elizabeth was educated in Taunton schools. Prior to retiring, she had worked as an attendant for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, at Taunton State Hospital for fifteen years. She had made her home in Berkley for thirty years and enjoyed collecting antiques.
She was the mother of Ronald DeMoura and his wife Janet of Taunton and the late George DeMoura, Jr. She was the sister of Louise Foster of Florida, Celeste Medeiros of Berkley, Alan B. Medeiros of Dighton, and the late Doris Souza and Francis, Edward, Richard and Joseph Medeiros. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. She was the former wife of the late Louis Champagne and the late George DeMoura, Sr.
Her memorial Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Thursday, September 7th at 10:00 A.M. in St Mary’s Church, St Mary’s Square, Taunton.
Burial will be held privately at a later date at St Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Visiting hours have been omitted.
