Mary Fran O’Hare, 87

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Mary Fran O’Hare, age 87, a lifelong resident of Mansfield passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

Born in Taunton, MA on August 26, 1930, she was a loving daughter of the late Francis L. and Mary W. (Gaffney) O’Hare.

Mary Fran grew up in Mansfield and was a 1948 graduate of Mansfield High School. She furthered her education, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business from Salve Regina College in Newport and remained an active member of the Salve Regina Alumni.

Prior to retiring, Miss O’Hare was employed for over forty years at Shawmut Bank in Boston. She retired with the position of Senior Vice President of Customer Service and throughout her working career, was inspirational in helping many people with their jobs at Shawmut Bank.

Mary Fran was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and a longtime member of the Prayer Ministries and Bereavement Committee. She loved spending time with family, socializing with friends, and was especially proud of her nephews and grand nieces. She also enjoyed trips to Ireland and was a firm believer of hard work.

She was the dear sister of Ellen O. Frank and William G. O'Hare both of Mansfield. She was the cherished aunt of William G. Frank and his wife Kim and Richard E. Frank and his wife Lori. She is also survived by her adoring grand nieces Emily, Jillian, Kelly and Marissa, as well as her devoted cousins and friends.


Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, September 2nd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September1st from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
