Marie M. (Ells) Porter, age 68 of Methuen passed away peacefully on August 29, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the High Pointe Hospice House of Haverhill. Marie was born in Chelsea on April 6, 1949 to the late William and Marie (Robichaud) Ells. She was a graduate of Chelsea High School, Class of 1967. Marie was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church of Methuen. She was the former secretary for Mt. Carmel School of Methuen for over ten years. Later, she worked during the summers in the office of Sodexo at Canobie Lake Park. Marie enjoyed playing bingo, trips to Foxwoods with her family, quilting and shopping. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Marie was the beloved wife of Norman Porter with whom she married on April 8, 1973. She was the devoted mother of Julie Andrews and her husband Jonathan of Salisbury, Stephanie Bittner and her husband Greg of Lunenburg, Jonathan Porter and his wife Ashley of Salem, NH, and Samantha Tremblay and her husband Thomas of Salisbury. Mrs. Porter was the loving grandmother of nine. She was the dear sister of Patricia O’Regan and her husband James of Chelsea, William Ells and his wife June of Rutland. Marie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
