Obituary

Daryl Allen Ogden peacefully passed away at the age of 79 after a long illness on August 20th, 2017 in his home in Santa Paula, CA. Born in Ventura, CA to Howard Orlando Ogden and Edna Marie Bennett, he attended Ventura High School and at an early age joined the Air Force. After serving his country, Daryl returned to his hometown where he met and married the love of his life, Marion Lee Rash. Together, they raised their four children in the light and love of the Lord, flourishing in church where Daryl and his children often led worship. Daryl was known for his songwriting and beautiful tenor voice. Going back to school at the age of 50, he earned a bachelor's degree and went into the fulfilling career of social work. Daryl is survived by his wife of 57 years, his sister and brother-in-law Robin (Mark) Bender of Dayton, Nevada, his brother Howard Ogden, of Reno, Nevada, his four children and their spouses Jennifer (Phil) Schmidt of Bishop, California, Marcella (Ralph) Nau of Santa Clarita, California, Daryl (Kelly) Ogden of Eagle River, Alaska, Ronda (Jeff) Gauger of East Grand Rapids, Michigan, his 14 grandchildren, and by his one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his brothers Neil and Gary Ogden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The family would like to extend their gratitude to VITAS Healthcare for their amazing support. Please join the family for a memorial service to celebrate Daryl on Saturday, September 2nd at 2 pm. The service will be held at the Ventura Jubilee Fellowship Church at 2226 Goodyear Avenue, Ventura, CA, with Reverend Leonard Dewitt to officiate.
