Obituary

HUBBARDSTON -- Richard (Dick) M. Murphy, 67, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 20th, at the VA hospital in West Roxbury surrounded by his loved ones. He was born November 4, 1949 in Leominster, MA and was the son of late James W. Murphy and Kathleen F. Murphy.

Sgt. Richard M. Murphy served three years in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He had a passion and love for flying and antique cars. He had a sincere love and companionship for animals and leaves behind his dog and best friend Poo Bear. Later on he owned and operated his construction company, Murphy’s Construction in Leominster, MA and surrounding areas.

Richard is survived by his brother and three sisters; Kathleen E. Wood of Leominster, MA, Ellen P. Murphy and her husband John J. Houlihan of Francestown, NH, David L. Murphy and his wife Wendy of Chestnut Hill, MA, Sarah A. Svolis and her husband Steve of Fitchburg, MA and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his ex-wife Connie Murphy.

Richard was predeceased by his brother James W. Murphy Jr., and sister Caroline Murphy.
Per Murphy’s request and respect, there will be no funeral services as his life will continue to be honored by a private service with his family.
