Elmer H. York, 95, of Milan, NH, passed away on Sunday August 20, 2017 at his home. He was born in Milan on May 23, 1922 the son of Edwin and Dora (Wheeler) York and was a lifelong resident of the area. He wintered in Florida for many years and enjoyed his summers at his home at Cedar Pond in Milan. He was a US Army Veteran and had been employed as a paper maker at the local paper mill for 40 years, retiring from Crown Vantage. He also served for 18 years in the NH Legislature, 12 years as a Police Commissioner and spent 2 terms in the City Council in Berlin. Elmer was a life member of the VFW White Mountain Post #2520 in Berlin.
Family includes his wife Joyce (MacDonald) York of Milan, NH; daughter Marilyn Munce and husband Butch of Berlin, NH; son Guy York and wife Judy of Bluffton, SC; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son James E. York and wife Bonnie.
A graveside service will be held Sunday September 10, 2017 at 2 PM at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes, Berlin & Gorham.
