LOWELL: Ruth D. (Hill)(Rodgers)(Karlow) Kirby, age 90, a longtime resident of the Belvidere area of Lowell, passed away at the D’Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell on Sunday, August 20, 2017.
She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Kirby, who passed away April 25, 1997.
Born in Wakefield on October 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Alfred J. Hill and the late Dorothy A. (Ramsdell)(Hill) Polcaro.
Ruth was raised in Wakefield, attended Wakefield schools and graduated from Wakefield High School.
She resided in North Billerica for many years until moving to Tewksbury and later to Lowell.
Prior to her retirement, she was worked as a Payroll Manager for the Commonwealth of Mass., Division of Employment Security.
She enjoyed flower gardening and crossword puzzles.
Ruth is survived by her son, John E. Rodgers of Milton, NH; grandchildren, Michael J. Rodgers of Hudson, NH and Matthew J. Rodgers and his wife Lucy Kats of Latham, NY; great grandchildren, Isabel and Tessa Kats-Rodgers.
Ruth was the mother of the late Dorothy Anne Rodgers, mother-in-law of the late Patricia M. Rodgers, and sister of the late Alfred J. “Sonny” Hill.
Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 24, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will begin on Friday, Aug. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
