Obituary

Phyllis Jordan Keating, 74, passed away in her sleep at home in Bridgewater, Monday August 14, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Brockton and raised in Whitman, she was the wife of over 50 years to the late Thomas Keating and the daughter of the late Mabel (Edmed) Jordan and Philip Jordan. She proudly worked at Sigma Instruments in the coil department and later advanced to the position of quality control inspector at Bishop Pierce in Braintree and Weymouth for 43 years. She then worked at Lowe’s in Brockton as well as other part time positions over the years including Avon sales representative, poll worker at the Eastside Library in Brockton, and usher at the Rox stadium in Brockton. She was always a dedicated and dependable employee.

Known for having an irrepressible spark and a zest for life Phyllis had a love for Country music and Country music stars. For years she enjoyed every Sunday at Indian Ranch in Webster. She was even more enamored with her current favorites such as The BaHa Brothers, and JD, Billy and Ken, and more bands that she danced to at the East Bay Grill in Plymouth and The Sand Bar in Taunton.

Phyllis, an enthusiastic and prolific photographer, truly earned her nickname AP. It wasn’t just for Auntie Phyllis but for Associated Press as well! When she wasn’t dancing, Phyllis enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, puzzles, casino trips, tour bus rides, shopping, dining with friends and family, her membership in the Red Hat Society the Massasoit Community College Senior group, watching the New England Patriots, camping with family, sudoku puzzles, and books on her kindle. She also enjoyed movies, sporting events, shows, and TV specials. She also proudly attended the Brockton Citizens police academy.

Phyllis loved spending time with her cherished circle of relatives and friends, both locally and while travelling to numerous foreign and domestic locals. Everywhere she went she collected hearts, hugs, photos, and free swag! Phyllis was a true lover of life and a dedicated friend to many. Her friends were blessed by her joy, devotion, and enthusiasm for life. If her cup wasn’t half full, it was overflowing. She will be mourned and sorely missed by many.

She is survived by her sister Lucy Gilli of Carver, MA and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late David Edmed, Jeannie Chaisson, Rita Sargo, and Robert Jordan. She will be missed by many, but forgotten by none.

As per her wishes, services have been held. Donations may be made in her name to the Brockton Senior Center 10 Fr. Kenney Way, Brockton, MA 02301 or Old Colony Hospice 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02370.
