Obituary

Luther Ivey Walker, 92, of Jacksonville, Florida, died Friday, August 18, 2017, at Fort Caroline Gardens in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a loving husband, devoted Father, "Papa" and caring friend to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Pastor Ronnie Luke & Pastor Marie Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at Turner Cemetery, Tift County. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home in Fitzgerald. Additionally, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Mr. Walker was born May 25, 1925, in Hahira, Georgia, to the late James Harvey & Eunice Luke Walker. He was raised by John & Martha Luke. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Walker was a selfless servant who put others before himself and represented a true Christian. He deeply loved his family and touched everyone he met. Mr. Walker's passion was ministry and loving people. He served as an ordained Chaplain for many years at county jails in Irwin, Tift, and Ben Hill Counties. He was a member of Carpenter Road Church of God for many years and an ordained Minister with the Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Leacy Ann Rowell Walker of Jacksonville, Florida; two sons, James (Kathy) Walker of Fayetteville and Charles (Inez) Walker of Enigma; a daughter, Mary (Tony) Paulk of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by his three grandchildren;Tabitha Walker, Marie (Ryan) Hodges and Kristy (Eric) Johannesen. Additionally Mr. Walker had 11 great-grandchildren; McKenzie, Brittany, Derik, Carson, Lyndsey, Taylor, Ella, Lisette, Tanner, Logan and Eli. Lastly, his only great-great-grandchild; Olivia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 14 siblings.

Mr. Walker's Godly legacy lives on in the lives of his family and friends. He took one last breath here, and went straight into the arms of Jesus.
