Obituary

Mr. Mario Orlando Freitas, of Palmetto, Fla. entered into rest June 21, 2017 following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Claudina (Botelho) Freitas. He was born on May 11, 1941, the son of the late Antonio and Julia (Fortuna) DeFreitas. He was educated in Portugal and the United States and had been a Florida resident for the past 30 years. Prior to his retirement, Mario had been employed as a maintenance man for Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. for a number of years. He was previously a self-employed building contractor. He enjoyed visiting Portugal, fishing, old automobiles, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he leaves: 2 sons: Mario Freitas of Las Vegas, Nev., and Richard Freitas of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 1 daughter: Tracey Williams of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 3 brothers: Antonio Freitas of Calif., Joseph Freitas of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Ted Freitas of Taunton; 3 sisters: Lucy Rebello of E. Taunton, Mary Alice Freitas of Taunton, and Maria Paquette of Taunton; 9 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mario was also the brother of the late Jose DeFreitas, Joseph Freitas, Mary M. Paleso, and Maria Goulet.

A Graveside Service will be conducted in St. Joseph Cemetery, E. Britannia St., Taunton, on Saturday, September 9 at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton is assisting Mario’s family with the arrangements.
