Obituary

Anthony J. Zimkiewicz, 61, died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 17, 2017. He endured a valiant five year struggle with colon cancer. He is survived by his mother, Helen (Orczyk) Zimkiewicz; his sister, Charlene Zimkiewicz and her husband, Samuel Lipson; four daughters, Amanda, Katrina, Lauren and Elizabeth; three grand-children, Jacob, Emma and Isabella. He also leaves behind his longtime companion, Sandra Garrepy. He is predeceased by his father, Charles J. Zimkiewicz.
Born in Worcester, Anthony graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1973 and attended Fitchburg State College University. He moved to Southbridge, where he was a member of the Southbridge Police Department from 1977-1990. Anthony then relocated to Litchfield MN and lived there until 1999. Never afraid to make a change, Anthony enjoyed many occupations. He loved trucks since early childhood and was a long distance driver, as well as, an oil delivery man and construction driver for Baldarelli and his cousin’s company Leahy Construction. He was a dedicated family man who loved sharing the holidays with his children and cooking up a storm for all occasions. His return to Worcester was to provide care for his elderly mother. He thoroughly enjoyed wood working, fixing vehicles and solving technical problems. Anthony had a persevering nature, as well as, a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The funeral will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at11:00 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
