Obituary

Bernadette Anne (Mott) Rebello

November 25, 1956 – August 12, 2017

Bernadette, or Bernie as she preferred, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 surrounded by her husband and their four children. Bernadette was always a woman of faith. She was raised Catholic, and over the years also became a Christian. Her relationship with the Lord was always in focus, and she lived her life, giving praise to his name.

Bernie was a long-time resident of Fairhaven (currently New Bedford) where she was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church. As a girl, she attended Sacred Hearts Academy, as well as Fairhaven High School, and went on to graduate from Kinyon and Campbell Business School. She had many different jobs including: being a cashier, assembly line work, and various factory jobs.

Bernadette was married to her husband for thirty-seven years, after meeting one another through a personal advertisement in a local newspaper. A brief courtship followed, the couple was married on November 22, 1980, and together they raised four children.

Bernadette’s greatest joy was building and raising her family. She was a kind and loving mother, who always did the best she could for her children. Bernie was very involved with all of her children’s extracurricular activities, and through her involvement, developed a love for fundraising. Some of her favorite past times included: crocheting, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and spending time with her family.

Bernadette is survived by her husband, Robert W. Rebello, their four children, Jessica Rebello, Johnathan Rebello, Jalysa Rebello, Jaylene Rebello, and their grandson, Thomas Taylor. In addition, she is survived by her sister, her brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Mass held for Bernadette at St. Joseph’s Church located at 74 Spring Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. The Mass will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11am.
