Grace M. Barboza, was born on August 3, 1918, to Justin and Mary (Soares) Silva in South Carver, MA. She was the second of fourteen children. Grace passed away peacefully in the warmth of her loving family on August 11, 2017, in her home of 73 years in Plympton, MA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, John J. Barboza, six brothers, one sister and one granddaughter. Grace is survived by her daughter, Elaine Barboza of CA, and sons John Barboza, (Kathleen) of TN, and Richard Barboza (Diane) of OH, four generations of grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grace was devoted to her family and at times she would go without to give them what they needed. Many knew Grace as the former choir director at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Carver and for her abundant generosity and many talents. Grace excelled in gardening, painting, cooking, baking, canning, quilting, refinishing furniture, and many others. She was most passionate about being outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens which were admired by many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017; Viewing is from 9:00-10:30AM at Shepherd’s Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Carver, MA 02330. The Funeral Mass is at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 130 Main Street, Carver, MA 02330. Burial will be at Plymouth County Cemetery, South Meadow Road, Plymouth, MA 02360. A reception will follow at St. John the Baptist Club, 50 Silva St, carver MA 02330
