Ryan W. Vieira, 16, of Gansevoort, NY, formerly of New Bedford, died Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident.
Born in New Bedford, son of Yvette L. (Pierce) Vieira and Francisco D. Vieira, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life, before moving to New York three years ago.
Ryan was a student at South Glens Falls High School and was about to enter his sophomore year. He was a dedicated member of the South High Bulldog Wrestling program and had hopes of becoming a Section 2 champion. He was posthumously awarded his varsity letter in wrestling during a ceremony at the school.
Ryan was also a dedicated employee at Friendly's in Saratoga Springs where he worked as a cook.
Survivors include his parents; four siblings, Michelle, Brandon, Michael, and Matthew; his grandmothers, Barbara Pierce and Maria Bartee; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 12 Noon at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Rochester. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 1-5 PM. For directions and guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
