Obituary

John Stanton Kane, 91, died peacefully on July 31, 2017 at Wellbrooke of Carmel.

He was born on January 22, 1926 in Alexandria, the son of John H. and Cynthia (Taylor) Kane. He attended Anderson University and then Kansas State University, where he obtained his masters degree in Architecture. Throughout his career, he worked in the private sector, Church Extension and Home Missions, and his own firm, JSK Architects until retiring in 2007. One of his expertise was church design; but also included retirement homes; innovative house designs and the restoration of the Paramount Theater in Anderson. Locally and outside the city, his work stands in Mexico, Canada, Cayman Islands and most U.S. states. He was an avid traveler and outdoorsman; enjoying hunting, canoeing and campground planning design. He was a member of Park Place Church of God, East Side Community Club, Optimist Club, and AIA.

He is survived by 3 children; Mark S. (Sally) Kane of Newago, MI, Gordon E. Kane of Anderson, and Constance (Barry) Kane-Granger of Carmel; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Walter Kane of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Eunice Mae (Morrison) Kane in 2015.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Park Place Church of God, Anderson, officiated by Dr. David Markle. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 4-7 PM in the Bessie Byrum Lounge at Park Place Church of God, Anderson and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be given to Park Place Church of God, 501 College Drive, Anderson, IN 46012.
