Obituary


William P. McDermott Jr. 62, of Norwood, "Junior" passed away after a courageous and fearless battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) on August 15 in Massachusetts General Hospital.
Born February 2,1955 in Quincy, the son of the late William P. McDermott "Skeets “and Helen E. (Gallagher) McDermott.
He is survived by his loving sister Joanne M. Loveitt of Foxboro, MA and was the brother of the late Francis J. McDermott. He is also survived by his longtime Companion BettyAnn Gilfedder of Norwood.
His Aunt and Uncle Harold J. McDermott and Ruth E. McDermott of Marina Bay, Quincy.
Devoted father to his Children Kevin McDermott, William McDermott and his wife Carleigh and Kathryn McDermott all of Norwood.
Also survived by many Loving Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends.
William was a 1973 graduate of Norwood High School, A Red Sox Fan, and avid Grateful Dead fan. He made an impact on everyone who crossed his path in life, he lived by the motto give more than you take and love always, he had a big heart and was always giving and helping others. He cherished his family and friends and enjoyed celebrating life with them.
Please, to honor Junior’s life and in his memory always be Grateful, Honest and Kind.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Norwood Elks of September 15 at 7:00p.m. A memorial mass in St. Catherine of Siena Church Norwood on Saturday, Stember 16 at 5:15 p.m.
