Obituary


Esther Louise Kreis entered into rest on August 15, 2017 at Prosser Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 30, 1931 in Methuen, Massachusetts to Harold and Josephine (McFadden) Coffin. She spent her early years in Haverhill, MA where she was raised and educated in the Haverhill public schools.

In 1952 Esther met her future husband, Frank Kreis at a USO dance in Fort Devens, MA. They were married on July 4, 1953. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Nancy and Susanne. Esther was a wife, mother of two, grandmother of five and great-grandmother of three.

Esther always loved to travel. She and the girls lived in Germany for seven years while Frank was stationed there. Over the years, Esther and Frank have traveled through much of the United States and Canada and about 10 countries in Europe including France, Italy Austria, Switzerland and Hungary.

Esther liked all kinds of music and she loved to sing. She liked to read. She enjoyed doing genealogy. She loved to go to the beach on summer vacations with the family. She and Frank spent as much time as they could with all the children. There were many family vacations together.

Esther and Frank moved to Prosser in 1999.

Esther is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Frank; her daughters, Nancy Sanders (Danny) of Prosser and Susanne Penny of Burlington, CO; grandchildren, Kathryn Perkins, (Raymond) of Kennewick, WA, James Sanders and fiancé, Olivia Jones of Yakima, WA, Christopher Penny of Boulder, CO, Brandon Penny of Brooklyn, NY and Danielle Penny of Boulder, CO; and her great-grandchildren, Lily Lands, Dylan Lands and Renae Perkins, all of Kennewick, WA. She is also survived by a sister, Joan Coffin Ladd of Haverhill, MA and numerous nieces and nephews of Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Josephine Coffin; brother, Harold Edward Coffin; and son-in-law Norman Penny.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Prosser Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 17 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Prosser Funeral Home.
