Obituary

Terrence “Terry” E. Morris, 69, of Medway passed away August 11 at Norwood Hospital after suffering a fall at work.

Born in Bennettsville, South Carolina, June 13, 1948, the son of the late Francis T. and Dorothy M. (Murphy) Morris, Mr. Morris was raised in Brockton and had lived in Medway since 1987.

Terry, also known as "Hawk" and "Gypsy", was a self-employed framer and carpenter who began his career on a local framing crew while living in Brockton. He held himself to very high standards during his long career and took great pride in building homes that were well constructed, often exceeding homeowners’ expectations. In addition to carpentry, he worked part-time on the maintenance crew at Medway V.F.W. Post 1526.

He was a very talented musician who played acoustic guitar, drums and piano.

He was an amateur baseball and basketball player and enjoyed 1940s era movies, jazz and folk music, and was an avid lover of animals.

He is survived by his daughter Sara and her husband Dustin (Howe) of Auburn, Maine, and his three grandchildren, Kitty (O'Connor) of Salem and Logan and Emily (Tompkins) of Auburn, Maine.

He is also survived by his siblings, Sharon Colburn of East Taunton, Linda O’Neil of Marshfield, Melody Frechette of Middleboro, Nancy Mansulla of Brockton, Elaine Gothage of Newburyport, the late Dustin Olson, and by many loving nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his long-time dear friend and devoted companion Deborah Kane of Medway.

Terry will be sorely missed by his family, friends and neighbors and as well as by his beloved animal friends “Seamus” and “Keegan”.

Please join in a celebration of Terry’s life on Thursday, August 24 (4-8 p.m.) at the V.F. W. Post 1526, 123 Holliston Street, Medway.

Relatives and friend are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Friday, August 25 at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village Street in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
