Obituary

Anthony F. “Tony” Mele, 83, of Medway, died peacefully, Sunday August 13, 2017 at Framingham Union Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was the beloved husband of Marguerite (Juliani) Mele, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born April 13, 1934 in Milford a son of the late Philip and Lucy (Amollo) Mele, he was a resident of Medway since 1958.

He was raised and educated in Milford, and worked for Julian Oil Inc. from 1958 until his retirement as president of the company in 2003.

Tony was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran where he attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in May 1958.

Tony loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, where he was always ready with a story or a joke (or both!). He also enjoyed gardening, watching the Patriots and Red Sox and playing cribbage with Marguerite and he will be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived and will be dearly missed by his children, Michael Mele and his wife Mary of Medway; Anthony Mele and his wife Anne of Old Saybrook, Connecticut; Joseph Mele and his wife Michelle of Medway; Teresa Mucci of Ocala, Florida; Philip Mele and his wife Jennifer of Blackstone, and Christopher Mele of Medway; his sisters, Fannie Ackerman of Holliston, Mary Kevorkian of Milford, Anna Vozzella of Milford, Lucy Stanley of Uxbridge, and Geraldine White of Milford.

Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Mele-Clinton, Michael Mele, Stephanie Meiners, Lindsay Collelo, Alicia Burak, Anthony Mele, Kristina Mucci, Lisa Mucci, Brian Mele, Domenic Mele, Thomas Mele, Jillian Mele and Gianna Mele and 6 great grandchildren; Madison, Daniel, Jacoby, Brayden, Jaxon and Sophia.

He was the brother of the late Rose Pitasi, Nicholas Mela, Dominic Mele and Jessie Fagelson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral with military honors Friday, August 18 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village Street in Medway. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
