Obituary

Hildegard (Geisler) Keating “Oma”, August 11, 2017, age 89, of Smithfield, RI, died peacefully at the Taunton Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late CMSGT Raymond James Keating Jr. Hildegard was born in Munich Germany, the daughter of the late Maria Hendlmeier and late Leonhard Geisler. She became a war bride after meeting her beloved Raymond after WWII. She served her new country, the United States, proudly as the wife of a military man, Air Force, for 30 years. She worked at Polytop Corp in North Smithfield for ten years while raising her family. Hilda was well known for her blueberry cake, pound cake and especially her Christmas cookies. She also loved to knit and sew. Christmas was when she shinned and it was her favorite time of year. She was the best Oma “Grandmother” to all her Grandchildren. She was most proud of being Oma. She is survived by her four daughters, Linda Vanasse of Charlestown, RI, Barbara Griffith of Radford, VA, Cathleen Keating of Warwick, RI and Sheila Reid of Taunton, MA. Besides her daughters she was the loving Oma to Stephanie Lancellotti, Travis and Todd Griffith, Margaret, Cynthia and Victoria Reid and the late Michele Vanasse. She was great Oma to Kylie Vanasse, Nicholas and Alexander Lancellotti, and Cody and Caleb Griffith. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Friday, August 18th at 8:30 am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church in Norton at 10 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours on Thursday from 6-8 pm. Burial will be in RI Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, RI. Donations in Hildegard’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, at Alz.org.
