Obituary

RAYMOND– On Sunday, August 13, 2017, Virginia Dorothy Maller passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence in Portland.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan July 21, 1927 to John and Katherine Adams. Virginia grew up in Dearborn, Michigan as the second youngest of eleven children. In 1946 she moved to Maine to marry her husband Paul, with whom she had three children.
Always striving for perfection enabled her to excel at everything she put her mind to. This included being a switchboard operator at Michigan Bell Telephone, circuit board assembly in the technology field, retail work, to her life at home being a wife and mother. After retiring from Data General Corporation in 1990 she moved to Raymond to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Virginia devoted her life to her family spending countless hours with them playing games, doing puzzles, reading books, shopping, and attending movies and Disney events. Always having a great sense of humor Virginia loved laughing and storytelling with her family. She shared countless stories of her life growing up in Michigan including tales of interactions with Henry Ford, her father’s knack for organization and time spent with her brothers and sisters. Virginia loved music and enjoyed listening to movie soundtracks, Barbara Streisand and even White Snake and Santana. She could also be found on weekends in the fall rooting for her favorite football team the NY Giants.
Her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family. She was always there for everyone to offer a word of advice, a story, a laugh with unconditional love and support.
She will be missed by all remaining family members which include: her brother Ervin Adams of Dearborn, MI; children, Julie Quinn of Raymond, Joan Nickerson and her husband Michael of New Gloucester, James Maller; grandchildren, Sean Nickerson of Arlington, MA, Michelle May of Raymond, Matthew Nickerson and his wife Nicole of Poland, Bernard May of Gray, Ryan Quinn and his wife Mesha of Sanford, Ashley Quinn of Raymond; great-grandchildren, Adam and Alex May of Gray, Noah, Aiden, Violet, Logan, Ronin and Serafina Quinn of Sanford, Sebastian Nickerson of Poland and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude to St. Joseph's for their care and compassion during her final years.
Her wishes were for a private family celebration of life. Arrangements were made by Chad E. Poitras Cremation & Funeral Service. Anybody wanting to leave condolences can visit www.MaineFuneral.com.
