Obituary

Richard Roy Conlin, 90, of Methuen, MA, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the VA Boston Healthcare System in West Roxbury, MA. He was the beloved husband of Pauline (Richard) Conlin, to whom he was married for 62 years.

Born in Lawrence in 1927, Dick was the son of Alfred A. and A. Helene (Roy) Conlin. He graduated from Lawrence High School and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He entered the US Army in 1944 and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant. As a third generation pharmacist, he continued the family pharmacy business, owning and operating Conlin’s Pharmacy in Methuen for 40 years. He was appointed by Governor Volpe to serve on the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy for 10 years, serving as chair for 6 years. He also served on the boards of directors of many charitable organizations, including Mary Immaculate Health/Care Services and Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre. He was a parishioner of St. Monica Church in Methuen, serving for many years as chair of its parish council. In later years, he was an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth Church in Seabrook, NH, where he enjoyed spending summers. In his free time, he was an avid woodworker and enjoyed traveling and hosting his annual Fourth of July celebrations at his beach house. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him.

Dick is survived by his wife Pauline; his five children: Stephen and his wife Anne Donohue of Belmont, MA; Paul of Wilmington, MA; Kathleen and her husband Dean Bouffard of Greenland, NH; Dennis and his wife Tina of Andover, MA; and Maureen and her husband Stephen Stankus of Methuen, MA; and eleven grandchildren: Elizabeth, William (“Rory”), Jeremy, Brittany, Christopher, Andrew, Timothy, Matthew, Katherine, Emily and William (“Liam”). He is also survived by James Conlin and Nancy Conlin Wyatt, children of his predeceased brother A. Thomas Conlin.
