Obituary

F. Keats Boyd, Jr. (81) passed away on August 11, 2017. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 18, 1936. He was a resident of New Seabury and most recently Fox Hill Village in Westwood, MA.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ina (Creagh) Boyd, his children, F. Keats Boyd, III & wife Wendy of Cotuit, the late Bonnie Skane & husband Ed of Mashpee, and J. Christopher Boyd & wife Kristen of Mashpee. Keats had 7 grandchildren, Matthew Skane, Jim Skane, James Boyd, Ryan Boyd, Ilya Boyd, Anya Boyd and Caitlin Boyd. He survived his late parents F. Keats Boyd and Sally (McCauley) Boyd, of Wellesley, MA and his late sister Janet Pegram of Seattle, WA.

He attended St. Sebastian’s County Day School and Wellesley High School. He was a life guard at Morses Pond where he met his wife, Ina of nearly 57 years. He graduated Cum Laude from the College of the Holy Cross. Keats & Ina were married in 1960 in Wellesley, MA. They moved to Menlo Park, CA where Keats received his doctorate in law from Stanford University.

Keats began his career at Liberty Mutual Insurance in Boston as in house counsel. Subsequently, he operated the family’s shoe business, B.A. Corbin & Sons in Marlborough, MA where they manufactured casual & golf shoes under the label of A.G. Spaulding Bros. Keats sold the business in 1976 and opened his own law firm. He was general counsel for Frye Boot, which led to an estate and trust practice. His practice became the Law Offices of Boyd & Boyd, P.C. in 1990 when his son, Keats, joined the firm.

He had over 40 years of experience as a practicing estate planning attorney. He was greatly valued by his clients for his intellect and integrity. His legal experience earned him the highest professional and ethical rating in Martindale-Hubbell's National Directory of Lawyers. Keats was admitted to the bar in Massachusetts, the United States Tax Court, US District Court of Massachusetts, the US First Circuit Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court of the United States.

Keats loved his family and brought several of his family members into the law practice. His wife worked with him for over 30 years. His daughter, Bonnie, joined the firm and did financial trust accounting. His daughter-in-law Wendy works at the firm as a paralegal. More recently, his grandson, Matt, worked as an attorney at Boyd & Boyd, P.C. for 2 years. His youngest son, Chris, opened his financial planning firm at the same location as the law practice, where he and his wife, Kristen, also works.

He enjoyed boating, traveling, the International Wine & Food Society, and spending time with family and dear friends in New Seabury and Naples, FL.

A celebration of his life and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM, Saturday, August 19th 2017 at Christ the King Church, Mashpee, followed by a burial in the Great Neck Woods Cemetery, Mashpee.
