Obituary

Peter Louis Pappas, beloved father of Jean Ann Harrington of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and Alexa Pappas Zannetos of Bronxville, New York, and devoted husband of the late Ann Pappas (Paspates). Loving grandfather to Sarah and Erin Harrington and Catherine and Sophia Zannetos. He is survived by a brother, Dr. Arthur Papas of Weston, Mass., his sons in law, Dr. David Harrington and Stephen S. Zannetos, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Pappas of Mashpee and Alexander Pappas of Milton. Born on March 2, 1929 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, to the late Louis and Krina (Dracos) Pappas, Peter went on to become a Pharmacist (New England College of Pharmacy) after serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific in the aftermath of World War II. He was the owner and proprietor of McNamara’s Pharmacy in Needham and later was a familiar face at Wardell’s Pharmacy in Dedham, where he was a lifelong resident. Peter possessed a naturally curious mind, was an avid reader and a loyal Boston sports fan. A gifted singer, Peter was a member of the choir at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England. He was also a member of the Order of the Ahepa, District 8, Athens Chapter and the Freemasons, Constellation Lodge (now Celestial Lodge, A.F. & A.M.). Funeral services will be held in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England 514 Parker St Boston, MA on Monday at 11am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
