Catherine E. Moran, age 95, passed away on Aug. 10, 2017, at the Loomis Home in Holyoke. She was born in Chicopee on Dec. 31, 1921 to the late Patrick and Charlotta (Budd) Looney. She was a WWII Navy veteran having served in the WAVES. She worked as a secretary for 10 years for the Chicopee Fire Dept. at their Cabot Street Firehouse, Station #3. She was a communicant of St Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Chicopee. Catherine is predeceased by her first husband William McCullough who passed away in 1950 and her second husband Henry Moran who passed away in 2006; two sons, William P. McCullough who passed away in 2015 and Christopher Moran who passed away in 1964; three brothers Francis, Walter and Richard Looney, one sister Patricia Goodhind, sister-in-law Elaine (Hall) Looney, and her brother-in-law Dr. Cengiz Kayi. She leaves two sisters, both of South Hadley, Joan Sears and her husband Bill, and Carol Kayi; one brother-in-law Robert Goodhind of West Springfield and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday Aug. 14, 2017 at 11 AM at the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield Street Chicopee, MA with burial to follow in St Patrick Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling Hours will be held on the morning of the funeral Monday Aug. 14, 2017 from 10 AM to 11 AM. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation at www.pkdcure.org.
