Obituary

Fremont, NH – Joseph U. Therrien, 57 of Fremont, NH, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Exeter Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Teresa (Mawson) Therrien, to whom he was married for 38 years.

Born in Methuen on September 30, 1959, Joe was the son of Urbain and Dorothy (Wheelock) Therrien. He attended Salem High School, class of 1978 and then the Peterson School of Steam Engineering in Woburn. He met his future wife and the love of his life, Teresa, while in high school and started dating her at the age of 15. He worked as a millwright for 25 years at Haverhill Paperboard, where he served as Union President for many years. He then worked for Wheelabrator in North Andover as a millwright for 15 years and then worked briefly for the City of Nashua. In his free time, Joe used to enjoy rebuilding and racing cars. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and the rest of his family, who meant the world to him.

Joe will be deeply missed by his wife, Teresa; 2 sons, Joseph Therrien and his wife, Robyn of Fremont and Daniel Therrien and his wife, Ellen of Fremont; 7 grandchildren, Joshua, Cloe, Joe, Jr., Michael, Wyatt, Charlotte, and Clara; his brother, Wayne, of California; 4 sisters, Patricia Illich, Rita Stoessel, Ruth Kump, and Luanne all of New Hampshire; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Mawson of Salem, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter, Elizabeth Adams.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Joe’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2 - 6 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM on Monday at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made, for the benefit of Joe’s grandchildren, to the “Joseph Therrien Memorial Fund,” TD Bank, 35 Manchester Road, Derry, NH 03038.
