Obituary

Alfred F. Richard, 85, of Bellingham passed away August 7 at his home. He was the husband of Edna (White) Richard for the past 60 years.
Born in East Douglas, May 21,1932, the son of the late Levi and Alice (Buckiecsky) Richard, Mr. Richard had lived in Bellingham for most of his life.
A 1950 graduate of Bellingham High School, he had worked in his early years at the Draper Corporation in Hopedale.
In 1960 he joined the Town of Bellingham Call Fire Department, attaining the rank of Captain, and became a permanent firefighter in 1970, proudly serving until his retirement in 1991.
He was a charter member of Union Local 2071.
Mr. Richard served in the Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Specialist Third Class.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, DIY projects, cards, traveling with his wife and spending time with his family and friends. An avid Boston sports fan, he especially loved baseball and was very athletic himself, playing softball, basketball and volleyball into his early 70’s.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Thomas Richard and his wife Debra of Millville, Joseph Richard and his life partner Lucinda DeMoura of Bellingham, Deborah Richard of Mendon, Donna Richard of Bellingham and John Richard of Attleboro.
He is also survived by his brother Edward “Mac” Richard of Medway and his grandchildren Anna, Victor, Brian and Kevin and his 9 great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 12 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 11:00a.m.
Burial will be private.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
