Obituary

CHICOPEE – Rosalie R. (Roberts) Bishop, 77, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, August 6, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Southbridge, Massachusetts on October 28, 1939, a beloved daughter of the late William J. and Dolora A. (Touchette) Roberts. She was raised and educated in Aldenville and resided in Chicopee most of her life. Her work career spanned over many years as a bookkeeper and office manager and she was employed at the former LaBonte Oil Company in Aldenville, the Beaven-Kelly Home in Holyoke, the former Crescent Hill Nursing Center in Springfield and the former A.G. Spalding Company in the Willimansett section of Chicopee. She was last employed as a housekeeper and cook at Sainte Rose de Lima Rectory in Aldenville. During her leisure time, Rosalie enjoyed knitting, crocheting and her monthly trips to try her luck at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. She was an animal lover and enjoyed feeding the birds and critters that would frequent the backyard of her home. She was a faithful communicant at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where she also was a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher for over 20 years. She enjoyed volunteering at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen in Chicopee for many years. Most of all, she was a wonderful wife and homemaker. She leaves her loving husband and best friend, Harry P. Bishop. They were married on July 11, 1987 at Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley and just recently celebrated 30 years of happiness together. She also leaves her cherished nephews and nieces, Owen L. Kessler and his wife, Darlene, of Clinton, TN, Marc S. Fagullar and his wife, Laurie, of Ogallala, NE, Pamela J. Halterman, Stevie R. Roberts, Lisa M. Lesik and Todd W. Roberts, all of St. Augustine, FL and Corey E. Fagullar and his wife, Rachel, of Chicopee; her cherished grandnephews and grandnieces, Nathan and Nicole Kessler, Marc, Jr., Jessica and Timothy Fagullar, Nick and Erica Halterman and Emily and Abigail Fagullar; and her many dear cousins, friends and extended members of the Bishop and Roberts families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving brother, Religious Brother Eugene Roberts who was Called Home on August 10, 2001; and her loving sister, Madeleine J. (Roberts) Fagullar who was Called Home on November 2, 1982. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, August 12, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
