Obituary

NATICK: June (Trevett) Burke, age 88, of Natick, a former longtime Framingham resident, died on Wednesday August 2, 2017, at MetroWest Medical Center in Natick. She had been the devoted wife of the late Francis D. Burke for 46 years.

Born, raised, and educated in Framingham, June was the only child the late Framingham Fire Chief Leroy and Barbara (Mullen) Trevett. The Trevetts enjoyed spending summers at the shore and thus began June’s lifelong love of swimming and spending days at the beach.

June was employed as a dental assistant in Framingham prior to her marriage to Francis on August 17, 1957. She happily set about creating a warm and loving home for their growing family and was able to instill in them the pleasure derived from being at the ocean. They spent a great amount of time at their newly acquired summer home at Brant Rock in Marshfield, a tradition continued today. As her youngest reached high school, June accepted employment with Prime Computer.

After their retirement, the Burkes moved to Fort Myers Beach, Florida, at first splitting the seasons but soon staying year round. June started preferring a swim in the calm of their pool but as ever she enjoyed walks and relaxing on the beach. Beach time was rivaled only by the prospect of a game of Bridge or a challenge from a fellow Cribbage player. After 22 years in Florida, June came north and settled in Natick nearer her children and grandchildren. Her passion for family and warm sense of humor will be remembered with a smile.

Predeceased by Francis in 2003, she is survived by a daughter, Anne M. McLaughlin (the late Richard) of Framingham, three sons, twins Peter J. Burke (Marguerite) of Millis and Paul J. Burke (Andrea) of Hopkinton, and David J. Burke (Elvia) of Sandy Hook, CT; four grandchildren, Courtney Burke of New Bedford, Connor Burke and Brendan Burke, both of New Orleans, and Colette Burke of Sandy Hook; and two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Dallas Holmes. She is also survived by Donald and Cyndi McLaughlin and family of Merrimack, NH, James and Diane McLaughlin of Framingham, and Ashley, Ryan, Devlin, and Jake Hamilton, all of Hopkinton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in Saint Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick, on Thursday, August 10th at 10:00AM. Burial will be private.

Donations may be made in June’s memory to the Natick Visiting Nurse Assoc., 209 West Central Street, Natick, MA 01760. Arrangements are with John Everett & Sons, 4 Park Street at Natick Common.
