FALL RIVER – Antero “Pica Pau” Raposo, age 82 of Fall River, passed away on Friday Aug. 4, 2017 at home with his family by his side. Born in Santa Clara, São Miguel, Açores, he was the beloved husband of Mariana (Ferreira) Raposo and the son of the late Antonio & Maria Santa (Pimentel) Fernandes. Prior to retiring, Antero worked as a Landscaper for Blue View Nurseries of Easton, MA. He was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church and a former Soccer player with the Santa Clara Professional Soccer Team of Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Maria Santa Raposo of Canada, Maria dos Añjos De Oliveira, Herondina Viveiros, Lidia Rodrigues all of Fall River, Antero Raposo of Westport, Maria José Quiterio, João Raposo, & Paula Barreira all of Fall River; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 1 brother.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Tuesday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Santo Christo Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on Monday 4-7 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
