Obituary



.SACO-Audrey Gillette Milne, age 93, passed away on August 3, 2017, at her son Ted’s house. Audrey was born in Revere Massachusetts on May 27, 1924, daughter of the late Theodore and Ruth (Williams) Gillette. Audrey met the love of her life Bryce Milne on a blind date and it was love at first sight. They were married for 66 blissful years until his death in 2008.

They settled in Saco in 1956 where their home on Main Street was the hub of activity for many, many years. She was the curator of the York Institute Museum where her passion helped to grow it into the historic and educational institution it is today. She enjoyed her time on the historic preservation committee, the E&I Union, Women’s Fellowship, affectionately known as the “Q-tips,” and was a long time member of the First Parish Congregational Church. Bryce and Audrey were deeply committed, not only to each other and their family, but also to the Saco community through their work with the Food Pantry, church and supporting those in need.



She is predeceased by her loving husband Bryce, her great-grandsons Jason Milne and Zachary Nichols, and her grandson Samuel Tito.



She is survived by her three children son Bryce Milne Jr. and his wife Shuyn of Saco, son Theodore Milne Sr. and his wife Lisa of Millinocket, and daughter Alison Milne of Saco. Her grandchildren Wendy (Charles) Nowell, Amy (Rob)Story, Betsy (Kirk) Nygren, Christopher (Jennifer) Milne, Alicia and Leigh-Ashley Milne, Theodore Jr. (Brenda) Milne, Catherine Nichols, Timothy (Samantha) Milne and Todd (Tom) Yordprom, Michael Liberto, Eliza, Isaac and Audrey Tito. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Josh and Alicia Nowell, Megan (Kyle Nelson) and Lydia Story, Taylor, Lindsey, Erica and Kara Nygren, Hannah and Faith Milne, Lana Milne, Nicholas (Tegan) Milne, Audrey (Junior) Navejar, Amanda Milne, Ashley (Martin) Cervantes, Alaina Milne, Dylan (Jennifer) Nichols, Elyssa (Isaiah) Knox, Michael Milne, Nic Ibarra, Ariana and Alydia Tito, Caden and Maya Tito. Great-great grandchildren Adelaide Milne, Vincent Navejar, Braydon and Parker Nichols, and soon to be born Finnick Bryce Milne.



Audrey will always be reverently remembered by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her special sister, Harriet Keyser. She was beloved by everyone who knew her and will be forever missed.



A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11 at 1 PM at First Parish Congregational Church, 12 Beach Street in Saco. Funeral arrangements are with Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, Buxton. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com

Audrey wished that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Saco Food Pantry at 67 Ocean Park Rd Saco, ME 04072 and the York Institute Museum at 371 Main St Saco, ME 04072 in her loving memory.
